Lion Ken and Deborah Engstrom
DISTRICT GOVERNOR LION KEN ENGSTROM
District Governor Ken has a long history of helping people. As the charter member and former president of the Florida Maritime Lions Club in South Florida, Ken distinguished himself as a leader. Under his leadership the club grew to be the largest club in Florida.
He now lives with his wife Deborah in Bartow where they set up a food pantry for local people to be able to get food at any time without questions or embarrassment. Ken has asked the Lions of Southwest Florida to make feeding the hungry in our community a priority.
It is also important for Lions to grow their membership and he has set a goals to increase over all membership by each club ending the year with one more member than they started with. To accomplish this we will help more members get better trained and increase our efforts to bring in new members.
Lion Ken had an industrious career in the shipping industry. Where he started by graduating from the Maritime University of Stockholm Sweden. He served on many ships over the years and came to the United States in 1978. He has held many executive positions in the industry and continues to serve on the boards of several international organizations.
Lion Ken and Deborah have 5 children and 6 grandchildren. They are both Progressive Melvin Jones Fellows and Progressive Grand Lion. Ken also has served on the boards of Florida Foundation for the Blind and the Florida Lions Eye Bank,
